Chotikakamthorn, Nopporn and Suzuki, Hiroshi (1999) On identifiability of OFDM blind channel estimation In: Gateway to 21st Century Communications Village. VTC 1999-Fall. IEEE VTS 50th Vehicular Technology Conference (Cat. No.99CH36324), 1999-09-19, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The technique of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has received much attention as a promising scheme for use in future wireless mobile communications. A problem of blind channel estimation for coherent detection in OFDM systems is considered. It is shown in this paper that the channel is identifiable, given only a received data set obtained over one OFDM symbol duration. A sufficient condition for the channel to be identifiable is given, with outline of the proof included. In addition, a compact form of the maximum likelihood channel estimator for a PSK modulation scheme is derived. Experimental results are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed method.
