Abstract

Nowadays mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is focused by many researchers and striving to be deployed in practice. To achieve this goal, these two factors is major problem that we have to consider. The first one is “overhead”. In the other word, messages that are not necessary to be sent when establish network connection between mobile nodes. The next problem is packet sending rate from source to destination node that high enough to guarantee successful network connection. This paper is focusing on improved the performance of Location-Aided Routing Protocol (LAR) in term of overhead reduction by modifying the algorithm of MANET route discovery process. The result of simulation show that proposed protocol can reduce overhead drastically, expanding network lifetime and increase packet sending rate while comparing with other conventional protocol.
