Abstract

This chapter details two case studies on the user interface design, one on internet banking websites and the other on mobile payment applications in Thailand, focusing on the effect of usability factors on the intention to use the application. In the first case study the current internet banking web sites were evaluated for eight factors (the design aesthetics, ease of use, efficiency, functionality, learnability, reliability, satisfaction and security) towards the intention to use factor. The second study evaluated mobile payment applications from different service providers to test which of the six factors (security, trust, service quality, design, usefulness and ease of use) will affect the intention to use factor. Multiple linear regressions and comparison of two means approach were used to test the hypotheses. In both cases, data were collected from randomly sampled university students with a variety of profiles. Interesting results on what university students think about the design of mobile payment applications and internet banking websites were revealed.
